Thinking of havin an emo/scene haircut soon and i was wondering what to ask for at hairdressers! Help?

It the min, my hair is long with a longish fringe and my back is quite convex and looks horrible. Should i style it different and when i yet a haircut shall i ask for long fringe and short back? AlsO i like the idea of the fringe being long but have different lenghth on my sides! Any ideas? Wat should i ask for?
